How Much Do Dental Implants Cost in Leeds?

Dental implants before and after: full smile restored at The Tooth Spa, Leeds

What are you paying for?

An implant is not one item. It is a course of treatment that usually runs over several months, and the fee covers each stage:

  • Assessment and planning. An examination, X-rays and usually a 3D CBCT scan, which shows how much bone you have and where the nerves and sinuses sit. We have a CBCT scanner in the practice, so you do not need to travel elsewhere for it.
  • The implant. A small titanium post placed in the jawbone under local anaesthetic. It takes the place of the root of the missing tooth.
  • Healing time. The bone needs to bond with the implant. This commonly takes a few months, and we check on it during that time.
  • The abutment and crown. The connector and the visible tooth, made to match the shade and shape of the teeth beside it.
  • Review appointments. To check the implant, your bite and how well you are able to clean around it.

What can make an implant cost more?

The “from” price is for a straightforward case. Your written treatment plan may be higher if:

  • You need more bone. After a tooth is lost the bone around it shrinks. If there is too little to hold an implant, a bone graft or a sinus lift may be needed.
  • A tooth has to come out first. We often place immediate implants, so you don’t need to wait for the site to heal.
  • Gum disease needs treating. Implants placed in a mouth with active gum disease are more likely to fail, so we treat the gums first.
  • You are replacing several teeth. Two implants can often support a bridge of three or four teeth, which costs less than one implant per tooth.
  • The tooth is at the front. Front teeth can need extra work on the gum and a more detailed crown to look natural.

You will have an itemised plan with the full cost before any treatment begins, and you are under no obligation to go ahead.

Implant, bridge or denture: how do the costs compare?

Option Our fee Worth knowing
Single implant From £2,500 Fixed in place. The teeth either side are left untouched. Highest cost at the start.
Porcelain bridge From £924 per unit Fixed in place. A bridge to replace one tooth is usually three units, and the neighbouring teeth normally need to be prepared to hold it.
Partial denture From £880 Removable. Lowest cost at the start. Some people find dentures take time to get used to.

The cheapest option on day one is not always the cheapest over ten or twenty years, because bridges and dentures tend to need replacing more often. Equally, an implant is not the right answer for everybody. We will talk you through all three, including the option of leaving the gap. You can read more on our pages about dental bridges and dentures.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. We offer finance through our partner Tabeo, which lets you spread the cost of treatment over monthly payments. Finance is subject to status and to the lender’s terms. Our finance options page explains how to apply, and the team can give you a worked example for your own treatment plan.

Are dental implants worth the money?

For many people, yes. A well-placed implant that is kept clean can last for many years, it does not rely on the teeth next to it, and it helps to keep the bone in that part of the jaw. There is a high success rate, with good outcomes expected. As with any surgery there are some risks, which we’ll explain at your consultation.

Who places implants at The Tooth Spa?

Implant treatment at the practice is provided by dentists who have completed postgraduate training in implant dentistry and have placed hundreds of implants. You can read about their qualifications, and find their GDC registration numbers, on our Meet the Team page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a dental implant on the NHS?

Rarely. NHS implants are generally limited to people with a clear medical need, such as after mouth cancer or a serious injury to the face. Most implants in the UK are provided privately.

Does it hurt to have an implant placed?

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure but not pain. Most people describe a few days of soreness afterwards that settles with ordinary painkillers. If you are nervous, tell us at your consultation and we can talk through the ways we can make treatment easier for you.

How long does implant treatment take?

Typically 10 to 12 weeks to complete the treatment.

Why are implants cheaper abroad?

Prices overseas can be lower, and there are several factors for this. The materials used abroad are normally cheaper and not of the same standard used in the UK due to lower quality. Furthermore, implant treatment needs several visits and long-term follow-up. If something goes wrong once you are home, the cost of putting it right is usually yours. Before travelling, check who will look after the implant afterwards and how the clinician is regulated.

Is there a charge for the implant consultation?

Yes, there is a consultation fee, which is fully refundable and which we will confirm when you book. We only take the fee if you fail to attend your appointment. You can see our current prices on our fees page. If a CBCT scan is needed to plan your treatment, that is charged at the fee shown above.
