Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a dental emergency?
Severe toothache, a broken or knocked-out tooth, swelling, a lost filling or crown, a painful wisdom tooth or bleeding that won’t stop. If you are not sure, call us and we will advise you. Occasionally we may refer you to a specialist or hospital, depending on the problem.
How much does an emergency appointment cost?
An emergency consultation costs £71.50. Any treatment you need is explained and priced before we start.
When are you open?
Monday 9am to 5pm, Tuesday 9am to 7pm, Wednesday to Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm. We also cover bank holiday weekends for emergencies.
I’m not registered with you. Can you still help?
Yes. You don’t need to be registered for an emergency appointment. Call us and we will arrange the earliest time we can see you.
What can I do for the pain until I’m seen?
Take regular over-the-counter painkillers as directed, rinse with warm salt water and avoid very hot, cold or sugary food and drinks.
Can a broken tooth be repaired the same day?
Often, yes. Small chips can usually be smoothed or bonded in one visit. Larger breaks may need a temporary repair first, followed by a crown once the tooth has settled.
What if I knock a tooth out?
Hold it by the crown, not the root. If it is clean, gently push it back into the socket or keep it in milk, and call us straight away. The sooner it is seen, the better the chance of saving it.
I’m nervous about the dentist. Can you help?
Yes. Tell us when you call and we will take things at your pace and explain each step. IV sedation is available for nervous patients who need more treatment.
